Internal Work
My understanding of the Gospel — What is the Gospel? How does it shape my worldview? Do I understand the Gospel for myself before I share it with those around me? Do I remind myself of the Gospel in times of difficulty, struggle and discouragement?
Topics to study
- The nature of sin and its consequences — How does sin impact human beings' relationship with God, what are the consequences of living a sinful life in rebellion against God?
- What is repentance and why is it important.
- The life, death and resurrection of Jesus, what emphasis does the Bible place on these events and why it is so important within the Christian life and in our evangelism?
- The person and work of Jesus, who is Jesus, what does the Bible say about who He is and what His work meant?
- The uniqueness of Jesus — What makes him unique from other prophets, religions etc.
External Work
Am I mindful of the culture and society I find myself in, when I'm in school, college, university, work etc what are some responses from the 'streets' regarding Christianity and how might I respond and serve.
- Who are the people around me who I might be able to be a witness to? Is everyone I am doing life with a Christian, or do I have friends from other religions and worldviews?
- What can I do to bring Jesus into my school experience, place of work or home environment?
- What gifts and strengths do I believe God has given me that I can use to put Christ on display?
- What might evangelism look like for you? Not everyone will necessarily become a street preacher, yet Scripture tells us to do the work of an evangelist (2 Timothy 4:5), what application does this have for me?
- I serve in Church, but what does my service look like to my nonbelieving friends or family, how can I foster long term 'friendship evangelism' with those I do life with?
- Passionate about reaching other religious communities? Islam, Hebrew Israelites etc — How can I best equip myself to do this, how do I find my lane? You don't need to be well versed at knowing every religious ideology but commit to understand at least one and how you can reach that religious group / non-religious groups such as atheism, new age etc.
- What about pair evangelism? Jesus sent his disciples out in two's, what can we do collectively to spread the Gospel? Supporting evangelistic events in the community, listening in to conversations with the public and learning from others?
