The Hoytes

Ministers Benjamin Hoyte and Shermara Hoyte are a husband-and-wife leadership duo, international speakers, and ministers bringing faith, culture, and real life together for this generation. They are the founders of The Exchange, a bold space for honest cultural conversation, community, and freedom.

Through The Exchange, Benjamin and Shermara create room for the conversations many are afraid to have: dating, relationships, identity, and what it really means to follow God in today’s world. Out of these honest conversations has come their first written work together: a seven-day Faith and Trauma devotional, releasing soon. They also co-lead Alpha Consultancy, equipping church leaders in intergenerational leadership, development, and succession planning.

What they bring to every room is forged through what they have walked through together. In 2023, just one week after their wedding, Benjamin received a life-saving kidney transplant following two years on dialysis. That season of waiting, uncertainty, and faith tested in the fire shaped them both and gave them a message they now carry everywhere: God will meet you where you are. As long as there is breath in your lungs, there is purpose, because purpose is bigger than death.

By day, they serve at the heart of the UK Church. Both are ministers under the Church of God of Prophecy. Benjamin, a third-generation preacher raised in Barbados, also serves as Regional Manager at The Bible Society. Shermara, a second generation preacher is Principal Officer for Pentecostal, Charismatic and Multicultural Relations at Churches Together in England, building unity, justice, and collaboration across denominations.

Their voices carry beyond church walls. Together, Benjamin and Shermara show up where the real questions are being asked, and they’re not afraid to go there. Expect honesty, faith, and the kind of conversations that actually change something.
